I don’t know why someone would replace the wonderful cloth in a GTI with something as common as black leather.
I really like that little touch on the golf ball shifter.
At least they’re getting red stitches.

Plaid is gross.

False.

Agreed. So much so that I made my dealer swap the boring leather in my SE to the cloth from an S when I ordered it.
I also bought some seat fabric and had a custom shift boot made by a local car interior shop. I like the golf ball detail on the stock shift knob, but it isn’t connected to the shift lever directly (VW does not use screw-on knobs or a threaded lever). The Cobb tuning knob I have now works like a dream.

Of all the reasons I would buy a GTI/GLI, the plaid upholstery is #1.

The plaid is one of the most unique features of the GTI. Why on earth would they want to get rid of it?!

Your opinion is wrong and you should feel wrong.

I want a plaid interior. Even my Tercel isn’t plaid for some reason.

Yes it is

They should’ve just gotten the right trim for their tastes. It’s not that huge a jump in price . . . unless they did not want the sunroof with the leather. I guess I can see that strategy.

I’d prefer the leather over plaid cloth.
